Market supply and Biofuels - Peru / Jul. 2008

In August 2003, was issued in Peru the Market Promotion Act of Biofuels - Law 28054, this law has among other objectives promote agro-industrial development to generate employment and reduce environmental pollution. It also defines biofuels as chemicals that are derived from agro-industrial raw materials of origin or other forms of biomass and comply with quality standards established by competent authorities. Two years later, in 2005, this law was regulated by Supreme Decree N°013-2005-EM, which defines biodiesel as an oily substance obtained from palm oil, castor, soya, sunflower and other vegetable oils. On the other hand, there is a term that BioOil in North America is synonymous with oil fast pyrolysis, while in Europe, BioOil has a much broader definition, which covers other biomasses, such as palm oil, other vegetable oils and acids.

 
Gynerium Sagittatum: Biomass as an answer to the climatic change and the use of less polluting energy

Presents one of the options in response to the crisis of global warming, indiscriminate consumption of fossil fuels and the financial crisis. It focuses on the production of liquid biofuels by rapid pyrolysis or Bio Oil, from various biomass including Gynerium sagittatum, characterization and control of the operation of the thermal conversion process, and in particular fast pyrolysis reactors that have reached expectant development technologies and the latest equipment, the ability serve the growing market for biofuels.

 
Sustainable Development of Bio Oils

United States Embassy in Peru organized the event about the sustainable development of Bio Oils (August, 26 - 2008 in the Auditorium of Petroperu, Lima - Perú). The inaugural speech was in charge of Mr. James Nealon in charge of businesses of the American Embassy, also participated in the event the Minister of the Environment Dr. Antonio Brack Egg.

 
Samoa Fiber company will initiate, in Loreto, the growing for bio-oils

Iván Vásquez , president of Loreto Regional Government from Perú, announced that in the next two months the American Company Samoa Fiber will initiate operations in this region starting with the growing of “Caña Brava” in 10 thousand hectares in the Manití zone in Loreto.

 
Approved the National Plan of Samoa Fiber (Caña Brava)- RM N° 0521-2008-AG

The Ministry of Agriculture through Proamazonia today launched the National Plan for the Promotion of Caña Brava (Samoa Fiber): Peru 2008-2020, which will develop Plan 560000 hectares, generating direct employment to 160 thousand farmers with a total investment of U.S. $ 125 million.

That plan envisages the development of 60 thousand hectares of Samoa Fiber with an investment of U.S. $ 53 million.

It is worth mentioning that on January 25 this year, the Executive issued Supreme Decree No. 004-2008-AG, through which declares national interest the installation of Samoa fiber plantations.
